This meta is entirely inspired by wigbee71583's brilliant question, posed to wheater in her fandom-related meme found here.

Do you think the way Elijah and Klaus treated Katerina informed how Katherine interacted with Stefan and Damon?

This question struck me so much that I just had to do some more thinking on it, leading me to write this meta. Turns out there are TONS of parallels in the Elijah-Katerina-Klaus relationship and the Stefan-Katherine-Damon relationship. It's simply fascinating to me. Join me in my exploration of these two triangles, will you?

I finally got to see Les Mis today! I say finally, even though it came out a mere 5 days ago, because this music degree-holding, musical theater enthusiast has been waiting for this for a while.

WOW WOW WOW. I literally cannot say enough about how incredible this movie is. As always with adapting musical theater onto the big screen, I cringe in fear a bit that justice will not be served. I am so, so happy to report that this is not the case at all here. The vocals were strong and the film stayed true blue to the plot. I'd even go so far as to say that this brought the Les Mis experience to another level, even for those familiar with the production, simply because of the closeups and the stunning emotions displayed by the cast.
Spoilers for the movie and OTT flailing under the cut.Collapse )

My entry for Literary Ladies We Love!

Allow me to start this post by recounting a recent phone conversation between my sister and I:

Me: So, you finished The Hunger Games? What'd you think???

Sister: I liked it, it was okay.

Me: Okay? What do you mean?

Sister: I wasn't really liking Katniss. She seemed so...cold.

Me: ...

Sister: Are you still there?

Me: I'm sorry, Katniss was *clears throat* cold, did you say?

And thus began a tense phone conversation between my sister and I, in which I laid out all the reasons in which she was wrong and how Katniss was, in fact, one of the most fierce female characters ever written. Period.

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the entire THG trilogy.

Stop trying to put her in a love triangle she wants no part in.Collapse )

It's back! It's back!

Wow, so I feel like a LOT happened in this episode. There was the contrast of Matthew (possibly) gaining money while Robert is losing his, the wedding preparations, the Bates drama, the new footman, Daisy's standoff, Branson's awkward family introduction and transition, and Edith's quest of Sir Anthony. Oh, and Cora's mom arrived, too! Whew, lots of stuff happened!

Things I Liked/DislikedCollapse )
